Functional Assessment and Treatment of the Lumbo-pelvis and Lower Extremity

This course is designed to provide the student and doctor with a basis for integrating evidence- based active care into their chiropractic practice. The course will provide: (1) basic, pertinent biomechanics of the locomotor system and its role in movement dysfunction, (2) functional assessment tools for neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction and common clinical conditions, (3) mobilization and manipulation techniques for muscular, joint, and nervous systems and, (4) stabilization and functional reactivation tools and techniques for the neuromusculoskeletal system.

The lower quarter course will include lecture and workshop of common dysfunctions of the lumbar spine, pelvis and lower extremity. Specific lecture topics will include functional biomechanics and anatomy of lumbar spine, pelvis, hip, knee and the foot/ankle complex as they relate to the entire locomotor system. Workshop will cover assessment and treatment of common clinical dysfunctions and syndromes of the lower quarter. Workshops will include soft tissue mobilization, joint manipulation and functional rehabilitation of the spine and lower extremity. Specific conditions that will be addressed include but are not limited to common foot, ankle and knee conditions, sport related injury, postural syndromes, gait dysfunction, radiculopathy of the lower quarter, and post-partum pain.

These courses are designed to provide the doctor with tools that can be easily implemented into his or her practice Monday morning. The course will be largely hands- on workshop in order to provide the doctor with a working knowledge of functional assessment and treatment options and techniques. You will learn how to complement your existing practice techniques with up-to-date, evidence based approaches that will increase your clinical results, expertise, and marketability. These courses will also give you the confidence to tackle the most difficult of clinical dysfunctions and provide you with a fresh approach to previously frustrating clinical problems.

The goal of this Functional Assessment course is to make difficult material understandable and usable. The instructors have combined the latest and most effective functional assessment and treatment approaches from many different fields, with the latest research to provide a concise workshop experience that will benefit any practitioner.
