A preceptorship with Health-Fit Chiropractic & Sports Recovery offers each student a unique
opportunity to observe multiple techniques applied in a clinical setting. Our patient population is
made up of all ages and includes some of the best athletes in the world. Each preceptor will have
a once in a lifetime opportunity to treat these patients and take part in exclusive programming.
One of those programs is our NFL combine prep program, an eight-week crash course, dealing
with football players who are all injured but cannot afford to stay on the sidelines. Our patients
range from young to old, active to sedentary, private paying patients to auto accident patients, the
preceptor will learn how to handle all of these cases both from a chiropractic treatment and
chiropractic business standpoints.

Details:
 Health-Fit Chiropractic and Sports Recovery will provide a learning environment for the
preceptor.
 Health-Fit Chiropractic and Sports Recovery does not provide a salary or provide benefits
outside of a great experience and a learning environment.
 This is a full-time position and the hours will be scheduled according to the preceptor
requirements.
 The preceptor must provide his or her own housing during the duration of the
preceptorship
 It is highly desirable, but not mandatory, that the preceptor be able to do ART or Graston
technique. Having a Motion Palpation and/or Athletic Training/Rehab background is also
desired.
 The preceptor needs to be able to do our low-tech rehab and assisted stretches.
 The preceptor must be willing to use our computer software program for patient
documentation.

Our clinic blends aspects of chiropractic, active care, myofascial release and rehab under one roof. Our patients range from young to old, active to sedentary, private paying patients to auto accident patients. The preceptor will learn how to handle all of these cases both from a chiropractic treatment and chiropractic business standpoints.

Requirements:

  • We will provide a positive learning environment with a functional treatment philosophy.
  • Preceptor is responsible for his/her own housing: a $250 housing stipend will be applied to your monthly expenses.
  • Preceptor will have set hours to work at the clinic.
  • Preceptor must have MPI or motion-palpation background.
  • Preceptor must have functional rehabilitation training, or at least have the desire to learn rehab and functional assessment.
  • Preceptor must have taken either an Active Release Techniques or Graston/FAKTR course.
  • Preceptor must at least match our level of attire, which is slacks and polo. When applicable, our clinic will provide you with the appropriate attire.
  • Preceptor must be willing to use our computer software program for patient documentation and scheduling.
  • Logbooks – Keep your logbooks daily, do not allow them to get behind more then 24 hours.
  • Be on time! If your not 10 minutes early, you’re 5 minutes late!
  • You will receive a log in for an online time clock. It is your responsibility to clock in and clock out.
  • During shadow time or observation, do not ask questions during the process. Keep a small notebook in your pocket to note any questions or patients names that you want to discuss for later. You will be expected to provide a differential diagnosis for every new patient evaluation you observe, which will be reviewed by the clinic director at an assigned time.
  • You may be asked to go shadow allied health professionals during your preceptorship: this includes, but is not limited to personal trainers, sports medicine docs, physical therapists, and surgeons. We highly value our allied health providers, and refer to them often. It is important for our preceptors to realize when appropriate co management or referrals are necessary.
  • We are an off campus teaching facility. We are sanctioned by the Missouri Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
  • You will be managing new patient cases and established patients at the clinic directors discretion.
  • You will be expected to formulate differential diagnoses, treatment plans, and to triage. You are to discuss cases at designated times with the clinic director.
  • You will be expected to work at every position in the clinic, from cleaning to Front Desk.
  • You are to show respect to the staff and follow their instructions. If you have a problem with anything they ask you to do, you are to come to your clinic director for instructions. Don’t correct them or disrespect them.
  • You will have a schedule that you are expected to keep. It is subject to change, but you must clear it with the clinic director first.

  • Patient Care Coordinator: Insurance verification – phone call technique – patient recalls and reminders Referrals for testing and pre-certs for tests – EOD and balancing. Posting charges.
  • Rehab Specialist – application of appropriate therapy modalities, ancillary soft tissue administration, therapeutic exercises, functional movement based small group classes.
  • Clinical Director and Associate Doctors – patient management – 1st & 2nd day procedures, use of ChiroUp. Examination procedures, differential diagnosis and clinical report of findings – TX & patient management -outcomes measurement – doctor / patient protocol – record keeping options for each type financial class (cash, insurance, PI/work comp) – marketing – office policies – forms & procedures – communication skills – interdisciplinary communication.

We are a sports med office using MPI, SFMA/FMS and DNS. I am a part of the MPI referral network, and I have posted several preceptors over the last eight years. We are in multiple Dr. practice and I would really like to source other like-minded students for our preceptor opportunity.
