The purpose of this MPI lecture and hands-on workshop is to provide clinical insight into treating pregnant, postpartum, and pediatric patients as a chiropractor. It will provide attendees with a basic understanding of contraindications to care, management of common conditions, adjustive techniques, rehab exercises for pregnancy and postpartum, and nutritional recommendations for these special populations.

By the end of the lecture, attendees will be able to:

• dentify red flags, contraindications, and reasons for referral in pediatric and pregnant patients
• Apply modifications to adjusting and rehab techniques to accommodate pregnant, post-partum, and pediatric patients
• Make basic nutritional recommendations for pediatric and pregnant patients
• Appreciate the role chiropractic physicians play in the treatment of pregnant, postpartum, and pediatric patients

It is recommended that participants have prior introduction to Motion Palpation (MPI) technique for palpation of the pelvis, lumbar, and thoracic spine as well as MPI sideline kick-pull and sideline drop adjustments. This course will focus on the application and modification of Motion Palpation techniques to the pregnant and pediatric populations. Examples of previous experience include having previously attended an MPI seminar, consistent attendance at Motion Palpation club for at least 1 semester/trimester, or having been taught Motion Palpation techniques through institutional study (i.e. NUHS).
